One of my LED light tubes died after 11 months. It’s supposed to last 45 years. It didn’t even make 1 year. I guess it happens.
I took it back the next day (Costco handled it no problem) – and I bought the same pair as a replacement. I hope they last 45 years as they promise. This was a little hassle (a waste of my time), but I was glad I bought them from Costco. Imagine if I bought them from elsewhere, or an online store, etc.. then I’ll have to package them and ship them back??? I avoided a major hassle because I shopped at Costco.
Buying a defective item is something you cannot avoid. It’s nobody’s fault.
Below is my blog from 11 months ago – about the light tube.

This irritates me. Did he mean November 2004? or April 2011 ?
I was joking about returning
I was joking about returning them in 44 years.
Honestly, I wouldn't know what to do if one of my bulbs dies in 7 years (instead of 45). What if they all die in 5 years.. I'm not sure.
Do you really return bulbs
Do you really return bulbs that don’t live as long as advertised?
Reason I ask is because I replaced all of the incandescent BR30 recessed lights in my house with CFL br30’s and they’ll last 1-2 years. They weren’t cheap when I bought them and I didn’t keep the dead ones when they burnt out one by one. I kind of feel guilty if I’m bringing in one bulb with no packaging. Should I be overlooking this guilt? Is this not frowned upon?
