Cable Price is Insulting

I am currently a Frontier FiOS customer. Look below at my cable/internet/phone price. See how it increased from $149.57 to $194.29 in 12 months. I didn’t add any services, and yet, the price went up $44.72 in 12 months. If this is not getting screwed, I don’t know what is.

When I first joined Verizon about 10 years ago, my special discount price was about $125/mo. After 2 years of price lock-down, they started to jack up the price on me. I kept calling them to lock down the low price, but they would only give me a higher price than before. And they kept raising the price as if they are testing my limit. And I am finally seeing my limit.

This is it. I refuse to pay more than $150/mo on cable/internet/phone service. $150/mo is $1800 a year. That’s a lot of money. Many people don’t take home $1800 a month. $150 is what I pay for electric, gas, water, and trash collection combined.

Most people I know pay more than $150 on cable TV bundles. Those most people make less money than I do. That’s yet another topic.

Tomorrow I am switching to Spectrum. I will pay $117/mo for the next 12 months. So, I will save $927 in the next 12 months. After 12 months, they will increase the price to $142/mo. I will still save $627.48 a year compared to my current provider. Anyway, I will not pay $1800 a year on TV/Internet/Phone.

I absolutely hate cable companies for jerking us around with insane price and rate increases. I am this close to drop cable TV altogether. They can kiss my ass.

Two pairs of boots I cannot wear (for now).
Thank you for visiting.
John

These two pairs of Italian boots are a Christmas gift from me to me. But I cannot wear them for now.

I work at a large company with 700-800 employees, and some of my colleagues follow my shoes. Some guys like to talk to me about shoes. They ask me about how I go about shopping for shoes. I didn’t think much of it at first. Then I realized they were trying to tap into my brain so they could buy the same shoes when I buy them. At least they are trying to emulate my style.

There is one particular guy at work… one day I caught him searching for my purple Chelsea boots. “I will find your boots. I like them. I will find them and buy them.” He said.

He couldn’t find my boots. He couldn’t, because my shoes are designer brand. They are only available for one season. But this forever changed how I share information at work. Now I don’t wear anything if they are available to purchase, so I don’t play twinsies with annoying mofos. I will only wear these boots after they are completely out of season and completely sold out.

First Hint of Christmas at Costco, 2018
Thank you for visiting.
John

I was a little disappointed that these ribbons didn’t scream “CHRISTMAS”

Ribbons were at Costco on August 1st, 2018, just as I expected. But they didn’t have any obvious Christmas designs such as snowflakes or Santa. Still, these ribbons are hinting at us to get ready for Christmas.

Garage Sale – New Saturday Coffee Mug
Thank you for visiting.
John

I never miss going to garage sales Saturday morning. Garage sales are fun.

Sometimes I make spectacular finds. I didn’t find anything fancy today. I spent about $3. But it was still fun.

Last year I bought a Muffin book for ¢25. I’ve been looking for a muffin pan since then. Today, I finally found a clean muffin pan for ¢25. I could have bought a brand new muffin pan, of course. But that’s not the point. It’s fun because I found it after a long search.

I will make muffins now.

I didn’t find anything at the next house. They had nothing but kid’s stuff. As I quickly turned and started to walk away, I noticed a small lemonade table on the side. A pair of a boy and a girl were sitting quietly with a pitcher of lemonade. There were a lot of people, but nobody cared for lemonade. I don’t care for lemonade. In fact, I avoid water as part of my garage sales routine. So, I don’t have to stop for the restroom.

Anyway, the kids looked sad and discouraged. “There will be more people coming.. it’s gonna get hotter soon”. The mother wiped the little girl’s tears.

I bought the dang lemonade for ¢50.

I bought a box of jigsaw puzzles for my coworker (¢50). I know the tallest guy at my work. He must be close to 7 feet tall. He likes jigsaw puzzles. A few months ago, he came to work on a wheelchair. He said he had to wait and see if he could ever walk again. Then he stopped coming to work for about a month.. then he came back. He can now walk again with a cane.

At the last stop, I found a coffee mug from Denny’s restaurant. It was only ¢25, so I grabbed it. I continued looking around but couldn’t find anything. When I was done and ready to pay, she said, “You can have the mug. You don’t have to pay.” with a smile.

I know why she didn’t take my money. It’s because I looked pathetic. When I go to garage sales, I make sure to wear faded clothes and dirty shoes. I don’t wash my face. I also wear a stupid hat for an extra touch.

This Denny’s coffee mug became my new Saturday coffee mug. I will enjoy this mug for many years. These are being sold on eBay at $18+.

I took the below picture 3 weeks ago at Denny’s the night I drove out to see The Milky Way Galaxy. On the way back, we went to Denny’s past midnight for food and restroom. Their coffee mug made me feel sentimental. So I took a picture. Now I have the mug. 🙂

Talk to you later.

I saw Milky Way
Thank you for visiting.
John

I drove 8+ hours (round trip) to see Milky Way for the first time in my life.

Now that I think back, I believe I have seen the Milky Way several times in the past – I just didn’t know what I was looking at.

Milky Way looks like streaks of cloud. It doesn’t look anything like what you see in photographs. I used my point-and-shoot camera for the below picture and digitally enhanced it. I can take much better pictures with my professional equipment, but my trip was not about photography.

I went to Joshua Tree National Park (CA), and I was disappointed to see glowing city lights all around us. It was darker than my neighborhood, but not by much. I have been to darker places in my past. I need to research more and visit darker locations. Next time, I will bring my professional cameras.

If you live anywhere in the world that’s very dark at night, please let me visit you. I will pay for the room.

BelGioioso Fresh Mozzarella Cheese at Costco
Thank you for visiting.
John

BelGioioso’s Fresh Mozzarella cheese was enjoyable. Check out the big plate. I seasoned it with salt, pepper, & olive oil (all Kirkland Signature brand). I shall make it one more time. I have one more pack left. Costco sells 2 packs of 16 oz cheese for $7.29. I bought it when there was a $2.30 instant savings on it. So, I paid $4.99 for 2 packs.  FYI: Walmart sells them at $5.78 each. So Costco has the best price by a huge margine.

My Mozzarella cheese salad was very good. My friend loved it. It was such a good relaxing time.

Basil costed more than the cheese. I thought that was ridiculous. I shall grow my one basil. I still have basil seeds from 7 years ago. I wonder if they are any good. Does anyone remember that blog? I had so much fun back then. I was excited about buying a packet of basil seeds and a little pot. Sometimes I worry that magic is fading away.

Why some people hate Americans. Shame on me
Thank you for visiting.
John

Oh boy. This is why some people hate Americans. Shame on me.

I have a good diet, but I get a special craving once in a while – I need some serious eatin’. Once I ate 2-pound steak and won a t-shirt. And I set my own sushi eating record almost 10 years ago (Dec 16. 2008).

Last week, I went to an all-you-can-eat place. Below is a picture of what I ate. It was satisfying, and I felt no guilt. God bless America.

*I am 5’7″ 155lb. Sorry about poor pictures.  The restaurant was dark.

I think it started way back when I was growing up poor. I would visit my rich relatives once in a while and they would have unlimited food… good food. I remember how overwhelmed I was, and how committed I was to eat as much as I could.

Mm… maybe I think too much. I like to pig out once in a while. we all do.
