Costco Shopping – June 12, 2010 (with a friend)
Thank you for visiting.
John

I went to Costco with a friend. After walking by the pet section, she called her mother in Arizona. Then she went back to pick up three doggie beds.

‘Mental note. Get separate carts next time’

I spent $170.00. Coupon saved about $27.00

It was nice shopping at Costco with a friend, because we bought each other’s coupon items. For example, the $8.50 Red Bull’s coupon had a 1 item limit. So, she bought 1 extra case for me. And I bought her 2 kitty litters because there was 2 items limit.

We shopped for a long time. It was fun.
We had a hot dog before starting shopping (we saved the soda cups for later). After shopping, I got hungry again, so I had a slice of pizza before going home. There were a lot of crazy people today at Costco. We had fun making fun of them.

Costco Margaritaville Sandals
I like these Margaritaville Sandals. It was a limited-time sales event.
The wheeled duffel bag is very nice and very cheap ($39.99)

Update 2021 – I still use those sandals daily. I still have the duffel bag, but I almost never use it.

Better Than Costco (?) – SimpleHuman Trash Can
Thank you for visiting.
John

I love Costco. I honestly believe Costco is the best store in history, period.

But, I never stop shopping around. I am poor, and I am savvy.

Costco cannot beat all retail stores and their super sales. Sometimes some other stores will have better deals than Costco. So, it’s up to us consumers to keep our eyes open and maximize buying power.

Here is one example

Costco sells a 35L trash can by Simplehuman.  It also comes with a bonus “mini” trash can. Costco’s price is $79.99

Below is the trash can I bought a few months ago from Bed Bath and Beyond.

I bought a 30L trash can by Simplehuman, it came with a bonus “mini” trash can. The retail price was $39.99. With a 20% coupon, my final price was $31.99. (Remember. Bed Bath & Beyond takes expired coupons, so keep collecting those coupons.)

So, I bought a similar trash can made by the same company. But I paid less than 60% of what I would have paid at Costco.

* 18th Costco Shopping this year, 1st time this month.

Nothing special today.

That’s a lot of strawberries for one person. I cannot finish all that. But what can I do? Give up strawberries because I live alone?

* 17th Costco Shopping this year, 3rd time this month.

I went to Costco today to relieve the stress I had from work.
I should feel lucky that I have a job… but I am stressed.

I took my time and looked around.

I feel better now.

I am thinking about going back to Costco next week.
I find it therapeutic.

Costco gave me (back) $50
Thank you for visiting.
John

Hello there! I just got back from Costco. Unfortunately, my car broke down in the parking lot. But that is another story.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Alan, and I am from Seattle. The main two Costcos I shop at are the 4th Ave store (which is the original Costco, let me remind you!) and the Issaquah store. I go about 3-4 times a month, for both business and pleasure.

I buy most everything at Costco… food, electronics, clothes, household items, etc. I am single and in my 20s, so not really too much bulk stuff, I like Costco more for the deals on everyday items.

So back to today. I noticed that the air conditioner I bought for my condo is now on sale. I purchased the unit a little less than a month ago for $50 more. I was not going to bring the unit in, so I brought the receipt in. Fortunately for me, the Returns man was most helpful; he checked my receipt and gave me $50 cash on the spot. Love Costco!

Of course, I immediately spent the $50 and then some the same day… getting a couple of Wii games (I just bought the Wii at Costco on Monday:), as well as coupon items Dove soap, toilet paper, San Pellegrino Limonata (which by the way, I take credit for Costco stocking as I wrote them a letter about the need to carry it… they listened!) and a copy of Toy Story on BluRay ($8.50 and comes with a free ticket to Toy Story 3!).

I’ll try to remember to post photos in the future. Glad to be blogging here. I am a true Costco fan.
