Costco Shopping – July 24, 2010

I am very busy.

I got some incredible deals on quality clothes at Costco. Don’t let Costco’s low price confuse you. They are of very fancy quality. You always get good deals on clothes at Costco.

  • Black Jeans – $12.99 – They are size 32-inch waist (little loose, but OK).
  • Dress shirt – $16,99
  • Black T-Shirts – (4 pack) $12.99 –  Bought 3 (total 12 t-shirts)
    • So, these shirts come out at about $3.25 each.
    • The quality of the shirt “Easily” beats $9+ shirts. They are very good quality.

Then I bought some ingredients to make BBQ pork & bean.

Oh! and a bag of Starbucks Coffee – I couldn’t wait for the coupon

I spent $134.32 total – then I did a car wash and bought gas for my car.

Costco Lunch Box – California Innovations, CI Sport (love it)

Update: Costco lunch boxes recalled for leaky cold gel packs (Jan 24, 2012)

###

With a $2.00 coupon, this lunch box was only $9.99.

Inside the box, I found a shoulder strap, aluminum water bottle, and a reusable ice pack. The bag is insulated for hot/cold food.

PS. The coupon is now expired. But $11.99 is still a very good price.

PPS. (added July 28, 2010) – It’s been about a month now. I’ve been carrying this lunch box every day to carry stuff around (backup hard drives, camera, notepad, sunglasses, business cards, & more…). I love this lunch box. Even my cool coworker complimented it.

Costco Shopping – June 12, 2010 (with a friend)

I went to Costco with a friend. After walking by the pet section, she called her mother in Arizona. Then she went back to pick up three doggie beds.

‘Mental note. Get separate carts next time’

I spent $170.00. Coupon saved about $27.00

It was nice shopping at Costco with a friend, because we bought each other’s coupon items. For example, the $8.50 Red Bull’s coupon had a 1 item limit. So, she bought 1 extra case for me. And I bought her 2 kitty litters because there was 2 items limit.

We shopped for a long time. It was fun.
We had a hot dog before starting shopping (we saved the soda cups for later). After shopping, I got hungry again, so I had a slice of pizza before going home. There were a lot of crazy people today at Costco. We had fun making fun of them.

Costco Margaritaville Sandals
I like these Margaritaville Sandals. It was a limited-time sales event.
The wheeled duffel bag is very nice and very cheap ($39.99)

Update 2021 – I still use those sandals daily. I still have the duffel bag, but I almost never use it.

Hot Sauce. Really Hot Sauce

Finally, I found a hot sauce that meets and exceeds my expectation.

I like spicy food. When I go to a Thai restaurant, I say “Extra, extra hot, please” Then I say “Remember, I said extra twice”. Sometimes I say “Give me Thai spicy, Not American spicy”

Typical hao sauces such as Tabasco, Valentina, Tapatio, for the general population. I don’t find them remotely spicy. Spicy food lovers agree with me.

I accidentally found this, Blair’s After Death Sauce, at Cost Plus World Market. After Death is too hot for me, so I have to put a few drops of this in some other hot sauce such as Tapatio.

Blair’s After Death comes with a skull key chain. I am excited that I found this hot sauce.

Better Than Costco (?) – SimpleHuman Trash Can

I love Costco. I honestly believe Costco is the best store in history, period.

But, I never stop shopping around. I am poor, and I am savvy.

Costco cannot beat all retail stores and their super sales. Sometimes some other stores will have better deals than Costco. So, it’s up to us consumers to keep our eyes open and maximize buying power.

Here is one example

Costco sells a 35L trash can by Simplehuman.  It also comes with a bonus “mini” trash can. Costco’s price is $79.99

Below is the trash can I bought a few months ago from Bed Bath and Beyond.

I bought a 30L trash can by Simplehuman, it came with a bonus “mini” trash can. The retail price was $39.99. With a 20% coupon, my final price was $31.99. (Remember. Bed Bath & Beyond takes expired coupons, so keep collecting those coupons.)

So, I bought a similar trash can made by the same company. But I paid less than 60% of what I would have paid at Costco.
