My Vitamix Routine

I’ve been using Vitamix twice a day, non-stop, for the last 6 years. Below is a picture of my typical mix (one serving – 2 tall glasses)

First, I don’t use Vitamix for taste. Vitamix is a chore. I just gulp it down and move on with my life. I make one as soon as I wake up and make another one when I come home from work (before dinner).

It takes little time to make Vitamix juice. I cannot think of any faster way to eat. So, in part, I do this because I am lazy.

I put some ice and water to start.

I put:

  • Flax seeds (of Chia seeds) – About 1 TB spoon.
  • Celery – 3 or less (depends on how thick)
  • 1/2 apple – normal size
  • some carrots
  • Spinach to fill the container to top (or green mix)
  • Ginger to taste (when I feel like it)
  • Lemon to taste (when I feel like it)

There is no rule. I may buy random vegetables whenever I see them on sale.

Costco Shopping – February 14, 2018

9th Costco shopping in 2018 – $32.78 (today) / $308.48 (this year)

Happy Valentine’s Day.

I bought my usual greens for my everyday diet.

I bought roses for Valentine’s Day ($15.99 for a dozen). Costco continues to provide me convenient and economic life-style. The Roses were so cheap that I felt a little guilty.

Costco Shopping – February 6, 2018

8th Costco shopping in 2018 – $44.05 (today) / $275.7 (this year)

Nothing special today.

I put 2 CK shirts in the cart at first. Then I changed my mind and bought just one. They are slim fit. I favor tailored fit over slim fit. I find slim-fit shirts too young and hip. This skinny fit trend is likely to go away soon.

Costco Shopping – February 2, 2018

7th Costco shopping in 2018 – $28.15 (today) / $231.65 (this year)

What you don’t see is a take and bake pizza at the bottom. I am getting ready for Super Bowl 2018. I bought a bag of chips and salsa. Super Bowl is not the same without pizza, hot wings, chips, and salsa.

Go team~!!

I don’t even know who’s playing in Super Bowl.

Costco Membership Fee Increased. Time to downgrade?

I didn’t know annual membership for Costco was increased in July 2017.

$120 plus tax is $131.40. In order for executive membership to pay for itself, you need to receive $65.70 on a 2% rebate check (make a qualifying purchase of $3,285.00)

4 years ago I spent $5,249.50 – My executive membership paid for itself and then some.
Last year I spent $2,929.00, and I just received a check for $58.58. This check doesn’t pay for my executive membership. In fact, I lost $7.12. I may have to downgrade my membership.

I spend less money at Costco now. I have everything I want (TV, clothes, Kitchenware..). I don’t have much more to buy at Costco except food items. It is interesting that I shop less at Costco now that I have more money.
