I hope you enjoy the stay. Have a nice day.

Costco (Christmas) Shopping - August 21 & 27, 2011

I've been busy.  I've been putting a lot of hours at work lately.  I hope that means I will have a better paycheck next time.  I've been making very little money. I had to take out $5.000.00 from my savings account so I can survive.

I tell ya, times are tough. Frown

I went to Costco on August 21st and 27th (2011).

Costco stocked yet another kind of coffee grinder for $29.99.  This Krups burr coffee grinder easily goes for $60-70 elsewhere.

Costco's Krups Coffee Grinder has mixed online reviews.  It has overall 3 out of 5 stars.  I figured half of the negative reviews are written by mechanically challenged people.  This is is now my primary coffee grinder.  It works fine with me.

Costco LED Santa Claus

And I bought some other stuff.

But, what's important is that it's Christmas time at Costco.  If you like Christmas like I do, this may be the time to make a list.  The whole point is that you are enjoying sentimental Christmas feeling from now for next 4 months.

I bought a toy helicopter for my nephew.  And I bought a small LED Santa figurine for my desk.  The figurines come in 4 designs; Santa, snowman, penguin, & angel.  3 AA batteries power 3 LED lights.  NiMH batteries last about 100 hours.

LED Snowman was equally cute.  I stood there for a few minutes, torn between Santa and snowman.  I took Santa home, but I may have to go back for snowman.  Penguin was cute but penguin didn't look "Christmas" enough.  Angel was not even cute.  LED Santa was $9.99.   Batteries were not included.

I took the LED Santa home, turn off all the lights at my APT, and turned on the Santa.  That moment officially marked my Christmas season.

Times are tough.  I am putting a lot of over time without any promise.  But, I am mentally relaxed and feel happy.  It's Christmas time.  Nothing else matters.

This year, I would like to bring happy feelings to even more of my neighbors, not just one or two.

Chocolates Of the World & European Cookies - Revisited

Remember this picture from last year?

I bought five jugs of Chocolates of the World and three cans of European cookies 10 months ago (October 14, 2010 blog)

from October 14, 2010 blog

On my blog I said something about my self control.   And I also said these chocolates would last a year.

Today is August 10, 2011.  I still have one and a half jugs of Chocolates of the World.  I have more than a half can of European cookies. Cookies are in the refrigerator. One jug of Chocolates of the World is in the freezer.  It's been frozen for 10 months.

I have been enjoying these snacks for last 10 months.  I eat one or two Chocolates every week.  I enjoy cookies with or without coffee.  My friends freak out when I serve these for them.  Stocking up on these Christmas snacks was a good idea.

I hope Costco will carry them again this season, so I can do the same for next year.  But, I don't think I can spend $80.00 like the last time.  I am so poor this year.  I just thank God I still have a job.

These snacks are Costco's Christmas tradition.  If you haven't tried them, don't miss out this year.

Costco Shopping - August 3, 2011 / Christmas~!!

I had a busy day.

I woke up so late I went to work without taking a shower.

On my lunch time, I came home to take a shower and did three loads of laundry.  Yes, it was a long lunch.

I went to Costco after work.  I didn't buy anything fancy.  I am so poor.  I am trying to be careful with money.  But, look!  Christmas time is here.  I saw a lot of toys and Christmas ribbons at Costco.  "Here we go..." one lady said.

I ate a hotdog and filled the gas tank.

After Costco shopping, I drove to Bed Bath and Beyond for some bargain hunting.   I bought a Yankee Candle (Christmas scent).

I came home past 9pm.

2 minutes after I got home, I got a phone call from The Marijuana Girl. She was putting her hamster cage together.  She wanted some help.  I was at her apartment for 1 hour.

I came home and ate dinner.  Now it's 1:30AM Friday.

I will be happy if I get good 5 hours sleep. ZZzzz...

Christmas Hangover

Jan

Today is January 13th but I still cannot let go of Christmas.

I had such a good time during the season.

Last weekend, I bought some last chance Christmas stuff at a local store.

Everything had to go, they said.

At work, I still turn on my Christmas lights.  I still listen to Christmas music.

It's so sad that the season went by so fast.

I put on my Santa Hat on Thanksgiving Day.  Some folks greeted me with "Merry Christmas" - On Thanksgiving Day

My 10 days vacation was a magic.  I really enjoyed my vacation.  I spent 6 days all alone, including Christmas day.  And I loved it.

I bought myself a nice Christmas gift (below)

I love this 13" notebook computer.  Of course I bought a factory re-certified unit for a deep discount.  The battery lasts 7-9 hours.  I plan to get out of the town and take care of my business with my computer once in a while.

I still turn on Christmas lights at my work.  I listen to Christmas music.  My apartment smells like cinnamon sticks.

I have gained 4 solid pounds during the season.

I ate a lot. Look at my snack shack (photographed December 2010).
This is why some people hate Americans.
Don't try this at home, unless you have super strong will power.
I have a friend with almost no self-control.   She goes crazy whenever she visits me.

I should snap out from Christmas hangover and start enjoying 2011.

I can't wait to Christmas 2011.  But that would be wishing away 1 year of my life.  I shall re-focus and enjoy 2011.   I would like to be productive this year.

Christmas season is only 10 month away.  That's scary.

Bed Bath and Beyond - Cinnamon Stick Yankee Candle

These are stuff I bought from Bed Bath and Beyond during this Christmas season.

I love Cinnamon Stick scented Yankee Candle.  To me, Cinnamon Stick is the best holiday smell.  You light this up... and it's Christmas.

The big jar was about $15 with the sale & coupon.

Remember, Bed Bath and Beyond takes expired coupons.  Maybe not all stores practice that policy, but all stores I went honored expired coupons so far.

So, I clip and hold on to all coupons from Bed Bath and Beyond.  When I have a coupon in the mail box, I look through the trash bin next to our mail box to look for more coupons.

Coupons are nothing to laugh at.  I saved $5 on a large jar of Yankee Candle.  I have a great respect for coupons.

I would never buy Yankee Candle at full price.  Because, I cannot afford it.  Coupons make it possible for me.

Yankee Candle, olive oil dispenser, olive oil sprayer, straws...  from Bed Bath and Beyond.

Vacation Update - December 2010

Jan

I am on my 10 days vacation (4 days off, 2 days holidays, 4 days weekend).

8 days flew by like a rocket ship.  I still have 2 days to enjoy.  I shall make most out of it.

###

When I was a boy, I used to love scale modeling.  I spent many days making tanks, sports cars, and fighter planes.  Back then, I had to save money for months to buy a cheap box of a tank.  Kit models were such a treat back then, that's why I relate kit models with Christmas.

I wanted re-live that olden days.  I bought 2 boxes of kit models.  I was very happy to find this truck.  I remember this truck from my childhood.  I looked at this truck on store window for hours and hoped to buy it.

On the night before Christmas, I put the truck together as I watched Polar Express.  I had a good sentimental moment alone.

It took several hours (a few days) to put this together.

After this truck, I got fed up with scale modeling.  That was enough.  Maybe I will get to the tank next year (?).  We'll see.

###

My neighbor "S" paid a visit on Christmas day.  She said she found the coins at the laundry room.  "I thought It had to be you" she said.

She said, after using washers and dryers, she put the coins and Christmas card back up there.  She wanted somebody else to have that good feeling.

###

I did a lot of shopping.
I ate a lot of treats.
I met my parents twice.

This vacation was so very sweet.

Cool

Merry Christmas - 10 Days Vacation Begins

Dec

Merry Christmas everyone.

I started 10 days vacation yesterday (Christmas Eve).  I will go back to work Jan 3rd 2011.

I am super excited about this vacation.

Here's a quick run-down on how it started.  It's been very fun so far.

###

Dec 23, 2010

1 day before the vacation. But my vacation unofficially started today.  We had a short day.  Also, my boss bought pizza and beer for us.  We felt so festive, nobody really worked today.

My boss should have bought more pizza.   I only ate 2 slices of pizza and pretended I was full and happy.  In fact, I was a little irritated that all pizzas were gone when I still wanted a couple more slices.

Officially I am thankful for pizza.  I enjoyed it.  But, I would have enjoyed it a lot more if there were enough amount of food for everyone to fully stuff ourselves.  When buying treats, the goal is to have left-overs.  Having left overs is the only indication that everyone fully enjoyed the meal.

I came home and did 3 loads of laundry.  I felt good that I am starting the vacation with empty laundry hampers.

I put out the work table at my living room.  I used the table to wrap Christmas gifts.  I listened to Christmas music all night.

Dec 24, 2010

We had a family gathering at my sister's house.   We had a good meal.  My nephews and a niece liked my gifts.  The oldest nephew seemed as if he was expecting me to buy him a new car.  I guess I raised the bar too high in the past (before I got my salary reduced).

Everyone stayed for the night.  The party will continue to tomorrow.  But I apologized to my family and headed back home.

I would like to stay home alone for Christmas and enjoy this vacation.

I came back home 10:30pm.  It's good to be home.

Dec 25, 2010

I did "Coins in the Laundry Room" again this morning.  I guess this is becoming an annual event.  I feel good when I do this.

A lot of basketball games going on today.

I will brew coffee right now.  I will glaze the ham later.

talk to you later.

Merry Christmas~!!

Chocolates Of the World & European Cookies

Oct

I went to Costco tonight. (Blog coming up.)

These Christmas candies are not available after holiday season.  So, I had to stock them up.

Chocolates of the World expires on June 1, 2011.  So, I put one jug in the freezer and the second jug in the refrigerator.  This way, I will enjoy fresh chocolate until the next holiday season.  I'll make the cookies to last several months.  I couldn't find experation date on the cookies.  I may have to buy a few more cans of cookies.  My guests love those cookies.  They eat 'em up.

I am not rich.  I am not trying to show off how much money I spend on candy. $80.00 for candy sounds extreme, but they will last long time.  If you look at the entire year, I definitely spend less money on candy than most people.  I don't even drink soda too often (to save money).

I would like to stress that I am not trying to show off.  Mm... I guess I am showing off my self control.  Because, I can look at the mountain of candies and not go crazy.

* The chocolates will last 12 months - I guarantee you that.

Please excuse my bad photography, I took the short cut (the easy way)

This is what I did last year.  I bought 4 jugs of Chocolates of the World and put "opening dates" on them.  I still haven't finished the last jug.

This is what I saw today at Costco (July 24, 2010)

They don't say "Christmas" in writing, but these designs are clearly for Christmas.

There were ribbons with snow flake designs also.

More coming...
