This is a personal blog. I am not affiliated with Costco in any way.
But, we needed a place for Costco shoppers to say hi.
I hope you enjoy the stay. Have a nice day.

Meeting My Old Neighbor

Nov

It's been over 2 years since I bought a house. I used to live in the same apartment complex for about 8 years. I made a lot of friends there, especially old ladies loved me. I am talking about grandmothers in their 70's and 80's.

Today, I was on a first date with a girl I met online.

After an early sushi dinner, I took her to my old neighborhood and told her my city's history.  I study local history, you see.  The ex-mayor of my city calls me the "city historian". I took her to a park that's used to be a cemetery.  I gave her a guide on surrounding landmarks. The Sun was about to set. The air was getting cold and crisp.

Then I saw my old neighbor, an old lady, walking her dog (white dog in the video, one who knocked me on my butt)  This video was shot 2011.

She is well over 80 years old.  She suffered some major illness.  I haven't seen her for over 2 years.  I used to talk to her and play with her dog.  I think about her sometime... I thought I would never see her again.

I got out of my car and ran to her.

We didn't say anything.  We just hugged each other.  And we didn't let go for about a minute.  And we cried... and cried...

I was so glad to see her.

We set on the park bench and talked some more... and I was keep crying. I was so happy to see her.  We held hands and gave each other hugs as we were talking.

I told her that I loved her.  It was the first time telling her that I loved her.  "I love you.  I always have", she replied. It was getting dark, and I had to let her go.  She walked away slowly with her dog as the Sun set.

Oh, the girl... she ended up staying over night at my house, but that's another soty.  Nothing happened, really. I don't do casual sex.

Replaced a Garbage Disposal

Boring story..  I replaced a gabage disposal.

I found the exact same unit from Home Depot... so it took me about 30 minutes to replace it.  It could have been a nightmare if I couldn't find the exact same unit.

I got lucky.

New year's resolution - going good so far

Jan

I had a real bad habit that would never go away. When I was young, I would always go to school late. It was embarrassing when I walked in to classroom late. I promised myself, thousand times, that I would go to school on time (early), but I was never able to fix my problem.

Now that I'm grown up, I've been going to work late. I have a super nice new job now. But, again, I quickly became the guy who always comes to work late.

Of course I felt horrible when I arrived at work late every single morning. And I promised myself I would go to work early. But, I would always go to work late for one reason or another.

I thought this old habit would never die. And this could ultimately damage my career. I look bad. It takes certain kind of people to go to work late consistantly, and I was one of them.

This year (2014), as a new year's resolution, I decided to give it one more try. I wanted to be the first person to arrive at my department. (FYI: There are 7 of us at my department, and 600 people in the campus.)

Today is January 27, 2014. So far, except for 1-2 days, I've been the first one to arrive at work. Surprisingly, it's been quite easy to go to work early. I guess I am getting old and taking my job seriously. I would like to be known as the guy who always comes to work early. I feel positive about this.

I would like to improve myself and become a better person.

Happy new year.

PS. Sorry, my blog is slow, because I don't spend money. I am saving.

I took down earlier posts. They were never meant to be permanent

FYI.
I'm getting a little better. But still down
Nobody is dying or anything
Some of my female friends told me "come on dude, what you have is nothing compared to what I went through". Hehe...

Like I said. I know for fact that I'll be fine soon enough

I need to get back enjoying Costco shopping.

Even in this special situation, there are people sending me dark, negative comments. What's up with that? I just want to borrow your positive energy to speed up my process. I will use all the help I can get. I have no shame at this point.

God bless. Thank you for all the love you sent me. If you have time keep your positive notes coming. It really helps. I enjoy reading them over and over. It makes me feel so good. It's a beautiful world that people care about me. Thank you.

Sorry, late post.

I had a stressful Thanksgiving day that I had to cancel my dinner.

2 days later, on Satureday, I forced myself to bake a turkey.  It came out pretty good.

Another Guitar - Schecter

Dec

This is the fourth guitar I bought this year.

I will not buy any guitar next year.  Next year will be all about saving money.

This is Schecter Hellraiser ($850).  When I buy a guitar, I buy a case to go with it.  Total price for the guitar and the case was $1035 after tax.

I bought a white guitar to celebrate holiday season & Winter.  The guitar stays at my work for now.

I bought the guitar right before Thanksgiving Day. Then, during the Thanksgiving weekend, I found myself feeling miserable with 4 new guitars on display at my family room. It's true that money can't buy happiness.  I would rather have one cheap guitar and feeling fantastic.  I am much better now.  Thank you for friendly communication from some of you.

God bless everyone.

Early Christmas Gift To Myself

Nov

I bought an early Christmas gift to myself.  This is a third guitar I bought this year.

It's PRS SE Santana ($725).  If this was a made in USA model, it would be about $4000.00(? not sure).  They are for rich people.  I'm happy with imported version.  Imported versions are not bad at all.  I tuned the guitar whole step down (D tune) to play Motley Crue songs.  Motley Crue is pretty much the only 80's Rock band who tuned their guitar in D tune (on every song).  Metallica recorded one song in D tune (Sad But True - Sad But True is the song title).

I play stuff from 70's & 80's (& some early 90's) - that's when guitar was glorious.

This is the cheapest guitar I own, and it will stay at my work.  Below is my cubicle.

FYI: Below is my second guitar of 2013 (August)

G&L ASAT Classic Custom

Below is my first guitar of 2013 (May)

STD Test Refund Lunch

Oct

I test for STD every time I meet a new partner.  To me it's the only way.  (*I am not trying to educate you or trying to make my point.  What you do with your own life is none of my business.  And I respect your decision.)

On my last STD test, there was a series of mistakes made from my service provider that I had to go to the hospital 3 times.  I even received an email saying "Please come back for more testing" - Which made my heart drop.  Then I learned that they have misplaced my sample.

I was pretty upset, so I emailed the company.  I told them that they need to compensate me with money.  Then I blocked that event out of my memory.

Months later, they sent me a check for $109 (roughly 50% of testing fee).  I was satisfied.  That's the correct way to treat repeat customers.

I wanted to celebrate my winning.  So, I told my co-workers my story and invited everyone in my team (4 of them) to a lunch.

I took them to our favorite BBQ place that we go frequently.  My co-workers thanked me for lunch and we all celebrated my good health.

They all laughed when I told them "I bought a deluxe package.  I paid for 6 STD tests and got free syphilis (test)."

Good times.

Later, our department boss came by.  He apologized for not joining us (I invited him also).  And he congratulated me for my good health.  :)
