Thanksgiving Turkey

Apr
07

Last Thanksgiving Day (2015) I ate 10% of the turkey and vacuum freezed the rest.

Almost 5 months later, I thawed the turkey for dinner.  It was very good.  It was like I baked the bird yesterday.

Sodastream Soda Water

Apr
04

I like Diet Coke.  In fact, I like soda of any kind.  They taste so good and I have a huge craving for them.  I also know they are bad for me.  I drink soda once or twice a month.  I wish I can quit soda completely.

I've been drinking soda water from Sodastream I bought at a garage sale ($2).  I put a slice of lemon for taste.  It's been satisfying my craving for Diet Coke somewhat.

Garage Sale - April 2, 2016

Apr
02

I'm getting older and feel the need to entertain myself with some kind of project or routine.  For over a year, I've been going to garage sales.  I enjoy cold morning air. There is nothing I need to buy, but I am passionate about going to garage sales every Saturday morning.  I look for silver, gold, and anything fancy.

Over a year, I have developed my own systems and tricks.  I have my own mapping system that keeps record, I wear certain clothes so I look poor, I wear a ring made out of magnet so I can detect precious metals without being conspicuous.

Garageg sales are exciting because I never know what I'm going to find.  Also, I am competing with other people.  Plenty of people come out crack of dawn so they can snatch good stuff before I do.  It is intellectually challenging because I have to know wide range of subjects. Then there is people skill.  Some sellers are chatty, and some don't want to be bothered. So, I read people and I return my best personliaty possible to keep the sellers satisfied.   Hopefully this will work to my advantage when I have to haggle.

At one of the garage sales today, I found a bag of 8 vintage switch plate covers for $5. They were old but in excellent condition.  I like them a lot.  I put some on my kitchen wall.  Then I looked up online to see how much they go for.  These are not cheap.

Focus Factor $5 off until March 28, 2016

Mar
12

At Costco, regular price for 150 count bottle of Focus Factor is $18.99, $2 cheaper than competitive price at Amazon.  Of course, if you buy from Amazon, you must spend $49 to qualify for free shipping.

At Costco, now until March 28, 2016, you get $5 off on Focus Factor without limit. This makes a bottle of Focus Factor $13.99.  This is a really good price. But does this work?

I was always skeptical about Focus Facor.  This week, I bought 2 bottles of Focus Factor  to give it a try.  I will give you an update... if I remember to.

I hope Daylight Savings Time will change my biological clock... and I will be motivated.

I am doing very good.  I feel positive, healthy, and I grow flowers at my cubicle.

I will talk to you soon.

Chit Chat - Show and Tell

Feb
06

I just took 2 pictures (below).  I thought I chit chat and catch up.  It's been some time. :)

It was Friday after work on the checkout line at Costco .  I had three items in my cart and was anxious to start the weekend.  In front of me was an old man with a cart full of stuff.  He was in his 70's.  The cashier pointed out that his membership was expired.  The old man didn't want to renew his membership.  The old man and the cashier had a long conversation. Then some stranger (gentleman) offered his membership card to him.  But, that would only work if the old man had cash, which he didn't.  The stranger told the old man to go get cash, that he would wait for him.  It went on and on... and people stuck behind him wanted to go home.

Finally, the poor old man gave up and walked away.  I felt bad... poor old man.

That's when I turn to the cashier.
I said... "Can I have his pineapple?"

I spent $4 Saturday at garage sales.  I love garage sales.  Garage sales are fun and exciting.

(picture above) I bought a small glass cake dome for $1.  Sodastream was $2.  It came with the CO2 tank that's not empty yet.  Sodastreams normally sell for $60 and up.

Then I went to this garage sale where everything he had was cheap and dusty.  I saw this little box of full of junk.  But, this box was interesting. I saw one item that looked like a vintage silver.  So, I offered him $1 for the entire box.

I took the little box home.  Indeed, most items were trash, but I found 2 pieces of silver.  And I found an elongated penny from 1934 Chicago World's Fair.  They sell for $10-$35 at eBay.

Not happy with Costco tulips

Jan
31

* Update: I found out after writing this blog that the tulips I like is called "Triumph."  So, basically I bought the wrong kind of tulip bulbs. But, my review stays the same.  The bulbs I bought from Costco didn't bring me much joy and satisfacion.

* This is my personal opinion.  Some (a lot of) people may not agree with me.  Additionally, I still have a faith in Costco, because the flowers did look like the picture on the package.  I didn't know there were differnt breeds of tulips.  Costco was selling less expensive kind.

Last year, I bought some tulip bulbs from Costco, but they were disappointing.  Flowers bloomed OK, but I was not satisfied with the quality and performance of them.

These Costco Tulips were not the kind of tulips that most people desire.  These were "K-Mart versions" of tulips.  Flower were small and "ugly".  They bloomed for only a few days.  It was cute, I did it once, but I shall not repeat it this year.  I will buy more expensive tulip bulbs from local garden center.

Below picture is tulips I brought from Costco (2015).  All 50 bulbs produced flowers similar to this.

At the same time last year, I bought a few tulip bulbs from local garden center.  They were much more expensive.  But they brought me more joy and satisfaction.  Flowers stayed bloomed for much longer time.  I am looking forward to grow these tulips again this Spring.

Below is images of a tulip I bought from local garden center.
